M. (Marije) Jeltes LL.M MSc studied criminal and civil law at the University of Groningen and criminology, with an emphasis on youth criminology, at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. After obtaining her degree in law, she became the manager of the Children's Rights Legal Advice Center (Kinder- en Jongerenrechtswinkel) in Amsterdam. She specialised in youth law and founded JSTW Advocaten with Pim, Pelle en Niels. She is a specialist lawyer in common criminal law, civil and criminal youth law and penitentiary law. She also assists victims of sexual abuse by the Catholic Church.
Marije Jeltes is an editor of the legal magazine Jeugdrecht in de Praktijk. She is a member of the Dutch Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NVSA), has been a board member of the Dutch Association of Young Criminal Defense Lawyers (NVJSA), is member of the Dutch Association of Youth Lawyers (VNJA) and in May 2013 she founded the Associaton of Youth Lawyers of Amsterdam (JRAA).
Marije Jeltes regularly teaches criminal and civil law, e.g. for Advocatenpunten, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the University of Utrecht. Besides Dutch, she speaks English, German, Spanish and French.
